BERG OP ZOOM SLUIT ALS 30e GEMEENTEN AAN!
Bergen op zoom kent sinds deze week een nieuw soort prullenbak: de statiegeldbak. De prullenbakken zijn zo ontwikkeld dat blikjes makkelijk eruit te halen zijn. De bakken staan voor nu alleen nog op het station, in de binnenstad en de boulevard.
Met de pilot wil de gemeente inzetten op minder zwerfafval, schade en betere recycling van blikjes en flesjes. De losse blikjes op straat en open getrokken prullenbakken zorgen namelijk voor problemen. De nieuwe statiegeldbak moet daar de oplossing voor zijn.
“Kijk is, tadaa”, zegt wethouder Hans Peter Verroen terwijl hij een doek van de prullenbak afhaalt. “Dan ga ik even met een blikje voordoen hoe het werkt.” Tijdens de demonstratie doet Verroen een blikje in de bak. Vervolgens opent hij via een hendel aan de onderkant de bak, om het blikje er uit te halen. “Zo kunnen de mensen die het blikje willen inwisselen op een nette manier dat blikje eruit halen. Zonder dat we dus rommel ernaast vinden.”

Collaboration between Verpact and the municipality of Rotterdam
The pilot is a joint initiative of Verpact—and its subsidiary, Statiegeld Nederland—and the municipality of Rotterdam. A total of 31 renovated deposit bins have been installed throughout the city, including around Rotterdam Central Station, the Markthal, Zuidplein, and Cor Kieboomplein.
The new deposit bins are an important step in a broader approach to reduce the number of opened trash bins and litter, and to recover materials for reuse. We are pleased with the collaboration with the municipality of Rotterdam and hope that more municipalities will follow this example.
